A few key points about the CSE Prelims are discussed briefly below:
The UPSC Exam begins with this stage.
It consists of two papers: GS-I and CSAT.
Both papers are objective in nature (MCQ).
CSAT has 80 questions, while GS 1 has 100.
For each incorrect answer, there is a provision for negative marking.

A candidate must obtain at least 30% in the Indian language paper and 25% in the English language paper; otherwise, the remaining papers (GS, Essay, and Optional) are not evaluated.
The marks earned in the language papers are not factored into the final grade.
The candidate must choose one optional subject from a list of 48 options provided by the Commission. There are two elective papers. (Please keep in mind that two papers are based on the candidate's optional subject choice.)
While the language papers are worth 300 points, the remaining seven papers are worth 250 points each.
