What is renal cell carcinoma? There are two parts in the kidney – the part that filters the blood and forms the urine, and the part that collects the urine. If the cancer comes from the part where the urine is formed, then it is called renal cell carcinoma. If it is in the collecting part, then it is transitional cell carcinoma. Renal tumour causes ✔ Smoking ✔ Hypertension ✔ Obesity ✔ Long-duration dialysis How kidney tumours are diagnosed Mostly these tumours are diagnosed incidentally, i.e., while scanning for some other problems.
