£ 12.99 An Alsace winemaking family dating back to 1639, Hugel & Fils have a reputation for excellence and a respect for tradition today maintained by the 12th generation. At every stage of production, mechanical intervention is kept to an absolute minimum - quality, not quantity, is king here. This Tradition 2013 is made from all six of the region's noble varieties - Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner - all harvested by hand from clay and limestone vineyards in a dozen of the most favoured Riquewihr vineyards. Once bottled, wines are cellared for a short while. The result is a spectacular white that reflects the unique terrior. Delicious on its own, it's also a top partner with meaty fish or seafood.
