A trip to Domaine Moreau is always a treat - the tiny winery is attached to a bustling family home and the Moreaus are always warm and welcoming. But don't be fooled, they are also very serious Chassagne producers. The winery's roots stretch back to 1809 when original owner Auguste Moreau built a cellar across from the Champs Gain vineyard and farmed his few hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot along the famed Côte d'Or. Current owner Bernard Moreau started tending the vines at the tender age of 14, and in the 1980s established the domaine's reputation as one of the top Chassagne producers. He has now been joined by his sons Alex and Benoît in the pursuit of excellence. Savour their top-tier Premier Cru with white fish or creamy sauced chicken.
