Our young population has an increased risk of developing diabetes and hence awareness about the pre-diabetes stage is important.
Pre-diabetes is the early stage of diabetes. Age, gender, hereditary, lifestyle factors and diet are some of the causing factors of pre-diabetes. Prolonged intake of medications can also lead to pre-diabetes.
Normal blood sugar level (fasting) is 125 and it can go up to 200 after the meal. If the blood sugar level is higher than this level but not in the diabetes range, then this is called the pre-diabetes range.
