A microcentrifuge is a laboratory instrument used to spin small volumes of liquid at very high speeds in order to separate components based on their density. It consists of a motor-driven rotor, which holds tubes containing the liquid samples. When the rotor spins, centrifugal force causes denser particles to move towards the bottom of the tubes, forming a pellet, while lighter components remain suspended or float on top.
