Genuine Petrified Wood Earrings: The Transformation of Wood into Stone

The term "petrified wood," commonly referred to as "a petrified tree," is derived from an old Greek word that meant "rock" or "stone." Petrified wood literally means "wood turned into stone." A form of fossilized wood having preserved traces of terrestrial plants is called petrified wood. When minerals gradually replace the original wood tissue, an organic substance known as the petrified wood crystal is produced.
