Soil Moisture Sensor
Introducing the Soil Moisture Sensor, a versatile tool for monitoring soil moisture levels in your plants. Equipped with multiple functions including a Soil Humidity Sensor, Water Sensor, and Soil Hygrometer, this module allows you to easily check the moisture content in your pots, gardens, or yards. The two probes serve as variable resistors and can be incorporated into home automated watering systems or linked to IoT devices. Simply install the sensor and its accompanying PCB to keep track of your plant’s water needs and develop your green thumb!
The soil moisture sensor comprises a pair of probes that determine the volumetric content of water in the ground. These probes allow an electrical current to flow through the soil and calculate its resistance, providing a measurement of moisture levels.
As the water content in soil increases, its ability to conduct electricity increases and results in lower resistance. On the other hand, when soil lacks moisture, it exhibits poor conductivity and leads to higher resistance. Consequently, the moisture level will be higher or lower depending on the amount of water present in the soil.
Electrical Wiring Connection
The voltage range for VCC is between 3.3V and 5V.
Ground: The ground connection is necessary for the safe and proper functioning of the system.
The digital output interface is capable of producing two possible signals, 0 and 1.
The AO, or analog output interface, allows for the conversion of digital signals to analog signals.
Some of the characteristics of Soil Moisture Sensor include:
When in dual output mode, the analog output provides a higher level of accuracy.
Effortlessly install with a standard bolt hole
The indicator lights include a red power indicator and a green digital switching output indicator.
With the inclusion of an LM393 comparator chip, stability is ensured.
