Heartworms in cats are not as common as they are in dogs. Cats are an atypical host for heartworms. However, that does not mean heartworms are not dangerous for cats. Contrary to that, heartworms in cats are more lethal as they are difficult to diagnose and there’s no approved heartworm treatment available for cats.
