Paraphrasing is an important task that is used often during your education and additionally in other areas of writing. It is not like making a summary where you would shorten the length and only repeat the most important points; paraphrasing is repeating all of the points raised within the original and will most likely result in a piece of writing that is of a very similar length to the original. It is taking what someone else has said or written and then repeating the full meaning of sentences in your own original words.
